How the job will change
For minor motor and household claims, image analysis tools already estimate damage from the policyholder's photos and propose a repair cost, with nobody travelling. For other files, AI drafts the expert report from site notes and photos, prices repairs from reference databases and compares contractors' quotes. Site visits and the dialogue with the parties stay with the expert.
The expert's work concentrates on what cannot be judged from a photo: fires, structural damage, business interruption, construction defects, contested causes. A good expert tomorrow will combine solid technical knowledge, the ability to establish causes and liabilities on site and the confidence to overturn an automated estimate when the field shows something else.
- 2026-2027
- Photo-based estimates for minor damage, expert reports pre-drafted by AI.
- 2028-2030
- Most small claims assessed remotely, fewer site visits per expert.
- 2031+
- Experts concentrated on large, complex and disputed losses.
Experts learn their trade on small claims before taking on large losses. As those move to remote assessment, firms already short of experienced adjusters risk a gap when the current generation retires. See the seniority outlook below.

How the numbers are built
Every headcount figure combines four assumptions. Three come pre-filled from public research and job family defaults. The strategic ceiling is yours to set.
Seniority outlook
A flow model with three levels of experience in the profession. Promotion and exit rates are set so that today's mix stays stable when hiring does not change: any gap you see comes from the junior hiring cut alone.
